Why is management so ban-happy?

A couple months ago I used humor to make a point about dress standards for church. Bam! I received a 6-week ban. No profanity. No hate. No criticisms. Nevertheless, ban!

I suspect that I will be permanently banned for daring to question the judgment of the infallible management team for this forum.

I haven’t personally read what you wrote, so cannot comment too much on this. But I believe the best course of action would be to contact the management team directly to understand the reasons behind your ban?

This. From the FAQ:
  1. Judgments by the Moderators can be discussed with the Moderators via private messaging but not on the board itself. If you display any disrespect, contention, or hostility towards a Moderator, Administrator or Catholic Answers your account will be suspended. Decisions of the Moderators may be appealed to the Administrator.

It may not have been the moderators (or the “management”) at all. It could simply be that your post attracted a large number of flags from other CAF members, and the computers are programmed to act on that without any human intervention. The best thing, in these cases, is to send a PM to (a) camoderator, explaining what happened and requesting them to look into it.

  1. Most of us didn’t read whatever you wrote so we have no idea what you’re talking about, given that it was months ago and likely deleted by moderation.
  2. If you want to discuss this further, you should contact moderation directly at @camoderator since we have no insight into why you got a suspension. Posting a thread here serves no point and as you noted it’s in violation of the terms of service.

I am not aware that anyone on this forum gets a 6 week suspension with “no moderator intervention”.
The most the system would do is auto-lock his thread.
The moderators make the decision to suspend.

I see he’s gotten himself suspended for another six weeks…
