Why is Mary called the “Queen of Heaven” by the Church?
Good question. You would have to understand Jewish culture for that…Why is Mary called the “Queen of Heaven” by the Church?
I can understand how that would allow her to have more say when speaking with Jesus, but why the title? Were the mother’s given the same title in the example that you provided?Good question. You would have to understand Jewish culture for that…
In the days when Israel had Kings, the Kings mother would bring requests to the King- and have them answered by himIn Revelation (I think it is either 12 or 13) it talks about a woman clothed with the sun, the moon, and the stars. She is wearing a crown I believe. The thought of the church is that because Mary gave birth to the “King of Kings” and the “Lord of Lords” that she is the queen of heaven- because her intercession can accomplish powerful things. It’s not something weird like that she gave birth to the universe or anything like that. It’s more along the line that lines up with John 2 where Jesus turned Water into Wine- Mary asked that he do so, and because she was his mother he did not refuse her request…

The queen in Solomon’s kingdom is his mother. I believe the Jewish Queen is the mother of the Jewish King, not the wife. Or perhaps the mother is Queen if the King is unmarried, which is the case with Jesus.I can understand how that would allow her to have more say when speaking with Jesus, but why the title? Were the mother’s given the same title in the example that you provided?

Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end." (Luke 1:31-33)
[6] Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre. [7] Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. [8] All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad. [9] Kings' daughters were among thy honourable women: upon thy right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir. [10] Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father's house; [11] So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him. (Psalm 45:6-11, KJV)
