Why is Patrick Coffin interviewing Milo Yiannopoulos?

I confess that until very recently I had never heard of Milo Yiannopoulos, despite the internet. I had heard of Patrick Coffin. Here, Patrick explains in CWR why he conducted this interview.

“Doesn’t Pope Francis constantly preach going to the peripheries and accompanying people non-judgmentally? It turns out, not all periphery dwellers are created equal. No, you have to be the right kind of pariah.”

Milo is controversial, to put it mildly. He is Catholic, yet lives a lifestyle that is not representative of Catholics. He attempted a wedding with his boyfriend, and has been open about his gay lifestyle. He uses vulgar language to an extreme.
I find him refreshing in a way, though he’s sometimes hard to listen to.
