Was there some divine plan made by God to place the headquarters of the church in Rome? Is Rome really even important because I feel like it is just an ordinary city that ended up being the capitol of Christianity for convenience? God bless.

Rome was the center of the Western world generally. For most of its history, it was the capital of the Roman Empire and accordingly has a lot of cultural and political significance.

After the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD, it was logical to have the center of Christianity in Rome.

I see, another question I would like to ask is was Rome suppose to be the center for all of Christianity or just for Western Christianity?

Infrastructure. The Lord used the existing Roman highways and port system to spread the Gospel to the Gentiles. St. Paul travelled over 10,000 miles on foot and this was possible because of the existing roads which all led back to Rome. St. Peter and many saints were martyred and buried there.
God will use ordinary means to achieve extraordinary works.
