Why is the Lords day Sunday?

God created the world in six days and rested on the 7th. Would not the 7th day be Saturday? God said to keep holy the Lords day. The Jews start their sabbath on sundown Friday evening until sundown Satirday evening. Shouldn’t we be doing this also? Where is it indicated in the Bible that the Lords day is Sunday?

Also, how could Christ be buried for 3 days if he died on a Friday and rose on a Sunday? Since Christ is the Passover Sacrifical Lamb who died for our sins, shouldn’t we as Catholics celebrate Passover?

The Jewish celebration of Passover is of the Old Covenant, the Christians’ is of the New Covenant in Christ which we especially celebrate during the Easter Triduum - and at every Mass, marked as we are and partaking of the Body and Blood of the Lamb.

We are not Jews, although we accept the messiah of the Jews as our savior. The Jews set aside the seventh day to keep as the Lord’s day. We keep as the Lord’s day the day after the Jewish sabbath, the day on which Jesus rose from the dead. This has been done since the time of the apostles. In the beginning of the book of Revelations John says he was in the spirit on the Lord’s day, he doesn’t say the sabbath.

Since Christ is the Passover Sacrifical Lamb who died for our sins, shouldn’t we as Catholics celebrate Passover?
We celebrate the sacrifice of Jesus, our passover Lamb, on Good Friday. The original passover celebration recalls God leading his people out of slavery in Egypt. They were saved from death by the blood of the lamb.
We celebrate Jesus leading us out of slavery to sin. He shed His blood to give us eternal life. This was foreshadowed by the passover but it’s a separate event and needs its own celebration. (And, of course, we also celebrate it daily at mass).

Note that it was the 7th day of God’s week, but the first day of Adam’s week.

That’s a cool idea.

I noticed that Spanish calendars begin with Monday and end with Sunday. Interesting that Sunday is the seventh day in their week. I wonder what the Seventh Day Adventists do in Spain?
