Why is the Passion read on Palm Sunday and during Holy Week?

Why is the passion read on Palm Sunday, as well as in the triduum?
 
One reason is tradition.

The other is that Holy Thursday and Good Friday are not days of obligation. Having the Passion read on Palm Sunday allows as many Catholics as possible to liturgically participate in the Passion.
