Why is the sun deep red at 11am?

I have never seen a sun so red at this time of the day high up in the sky. It is much more red than my phone shows

More red than the blood moon. My sister is 250 miles away and she sees it too.

On a side note, I wish my cell phone camera took better pictures of astronomical phenomena. Many’s the time I see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, or an incredibly large full moon, but when I try to photograph it, the results are never as dramatic or impressive as they are to my eye
