Take note of the following:
  1. The bible simply cannot be the only source of what is needed to be saved.
HOW can we know this to be true.

These dates may be off a wee-bit; but the point is critically valid.

Christ Died and Rose from the dead around 33 AD

The Bible was not completely written until the end of the First century or the beginning of he 2nd. Century. WHAT WAS USED IN THE INTRIM? Word of mouth which was the more common form of faith-formation within the Local communities.

thanks PJM for your opinion-- what is the catechism supposted to be??

The Church is Hypnotized!

the arrogance of christianity today won’t even look at the front of the book
they won’t even consider the fact that may be that they think they’d broken
covenant with yawah where the only thing getting them into heaven is a political
issue at the blood of jesus himself

but what 2 and a half billion people we’re going to experience most of them the wrath of

god on judgment day some of them will be put in the camp of the tares and their whole

life they’ve served in ministry some of them pastors because when you come to this and reality

scriptures in math seven depart for me i never knew you – we forgot to read

the rest of the book

the rest of the book says this

you being practice

lawlessness

let me say it that way i would have been said in the 1st century

you who have given up the TORAH

and have traded it in

for the documents

of men

you see we read our bibles and we say okay it says at first chronicles seven

fourteen and sixteen indelibly pressed the chapter

don’t leave my commandments and going to serve other gods ! and We say-- i’m not

serving any other gods— and we have redefined that

dot you’re finally got every redefined

do you know the bible does not define serving other gods as getting on your knee’s and bowing down to it—creating a little wooden idol –

criminal wouldn’t hide look a little

the BIBLE defines other gods as anything that replaces his TORAH

because if you replace

his instructions

by default

you’ve placed another instruction manual in your face

you’re reading someone else’s book

you don’t even know

that book is mixed

with the book of YAWAH

so it appears to have a form of godlyness

but it’s denied its power

it is no concept of power to get your reading

paper that have been taken from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil

but anyway

so it’s unholy

it’s ink is unholy

it’s message is unholy you are not looking into the eyes of god because you
have looked into the eyes of man

in by default into the eyes of the enemy (satan) and his ideas have hypnotized the church today
the church’s hypnotize it is dying
two-and-a-half billion people are dying
literally that are going to stand before god in some of them are gonna be cast in
the lake of fire and they thought they were going to spend eternity with him
and they don’t know that they’ve never who loved him in their life
God requires you to do
What he asks you to do
and to have a pure heart while doing it

in other words he brings up everything even if you do what he says to do
if your motives is impure
it doesn’t matter
there will be people that will be cast into the lake of fire
that had proclaimed the name of Jeusu
all because
one simple thing
the enemy leaned over in the garden and “SAID”
God did n’t
REALLY mean what he said

and we’re going to tell the nation’s of the world
GOD MENT what he said
Turn from your wicked ways
Humble yourself and pray
and you will see and hear come out of the heavenly realm so fast in here your
prayers

because when you repent and turn from your wicked ways because you recognize that
TORAH moral laws matters
that you’ve broken the part of the book

youtu.be/d99fX7N1Qjw

it penetrates your soul and floods you with the power of the love of god any

changes you
it make you into who
you were created to be

If it gives you any consolation, consider Judaism, in which there are the Talmud (“study” of the Torah “instruction”) and midrash commentaries to explain what’s IN the Bible (even just the OT) and then to comment on the laws that God handed down.

The NT is not self-explanatory, either [although large numbers of Christians think that is so].

Consider, too, that the NT is in very great measure, a commentary on the OT.

Consider that Jesus foretold that when he departed from earth, he would send the Holy Spirit, who would lead the Church into all truth.

Consider the comment on history provided by this book

ignatius.com/Products/MAFC-P/mary-and-the-fathers-of-the-church.aspx

which shows that a lot of the writing of the early church fathers was intended to refute the widespread teaching of heresies, such as that Jesus was only a spirit not human, or that Jesus was human only.

Creedal statements like the Nicene Creed and catechisms which have been develop in the Catholic Church over the centuries are intended to summarize the teaching of the Church.

The Catechism may look imposing in complexity, if not only just in size. It is both. But, it is also very readable, as I found out last December and January. It’s not that hard to get through. I’d suggest setting a goal of about ten pages per day. I think a lot of people can make time to read even more than that, as I did.

God bless.

I am reading only a section a day online. It is very readable. Easy to understand. I am planning on getting my own paperback copy soon. That will come in handy in case there is someone who asks about the Church and the faith as well. 🙂

Yes, it’s very clear and easy to understand. I’ve been told occasionally that it is difficult to understand, but when pressed everyone of the these people admitted that they had never given it any real effort.

The Bible was not completely written until the end of the First century or the beginning of he 2nd. Century. WHAT WAS USED IN THE INTRIM? Word of mouth which was the more common form of faith-formation within the Local communities.

Further John in chapters 20 and 21 ends both chapters [he lived to be the lodest Apostle] saying clearly “that not everything is in the bible.”

The Old Testament relies on Sacred Tradition for the bulk of its information. And the NT tells EVERYONE:1 Cor. 11 2: 2 “I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I have delivered them to you”

2 Thess. 2: 15 “So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter”.

2 Thess. 6 “Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is living in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us”

So despite Protestant claims to the contrary; the bible itself demands sacred Traditions.🙂
  1. Once again putting asside Protestant propaganda; **Read carefully Mt. 16: 18-19 **And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church,[Singular!] and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give to thee [Alone] the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven
This Power to “Bind and to Loose” has 2 meanings. the authority to forgive or NOT to forgive sins [Jn. 20;19-23] AND unlimited powers of Governance of the Church that Christ KNEW he would be leaving in Peters care. This too was esseantial.** READ Mt 10:1-8** and you’ll find Christ passing on to His Apostles to even raise “the dead.”
  1. God has always chosen a man to lead His chosen people [OT]; and “church” [NT]
Abram; Moses; Jacob; David; The kings, prophets and Judges; then Jesus Himself who choose Peter and the 12 Apostles.

John.15: 16 “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide; so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you”
  1. Perhaps you will recall the 600+ additions added by Moses and the high priest to the 10Commandments. **THAT IS ESSENTIALLY WHAT THE CATECHISM IS IN THE NT **TIMES; now UNDER GRACE; not only “laws.”
ONLY the CC has the Fullness of God’s truth in its entireity:) And The CC dates back to the very Paostles in the bible; some 2,000+ years. MUCH has chaged and MUCH has taken place included a Holy Spirit guided enlightened papacy and the magisteroum.

**ONLY the CC has both the Holy Spirit [Jn.14;16-17 & Jn.20:1-21] AND Christ in person [Jn.17:15-19] who has committed HIMSELF to be the warranty of ALL that the CC teaches on any and ALL matters of Faith-beliefs and Morals. **

The Bible is 2,000 Years YOUNG:thumbsup: The Catechism does not invalidate a single thing in the bible. The Cathechism explains the Wisdom; the intent and the meaninging of the bible for todays necessary use. The Catechism makes the Bible “alive” for us in present times.🙂 And like the Bible; the catechism too is a Infallible; Holy Spirit Guided document.😃

So its not one or the other; BUT BOTH which God desires that we use; know and obey.:tiphat::love:

Thanks for asking, I’m disapointed you din’t uncover some of this in your RCIA.: NOT your fault.

God Bless you and Welcome Home
:

PJM, thank you so much for the simplicity. I totally got it. And, I’m a cradle catrholic.🤷

God bless

That’s also like saying, Why did Jesus choose Apostles when He could have just passed out Bibles? Jesus established the Church first, and then the Church developed the Bible. It truly is challenging coming from a Protestant background where the Bible is the “complete authority” to your faith, then to shift gears to a whole other foundation that follows a way that has a tradition and system that came before the Bible was put together. Catholics are to uphold the Bible as Authoritative, but we are to also uphold its correct meaning just as much because the incorrect meaning of the Bible is just as dangerous or perhaps more dangerous than no understanding of it at all. The Bible is the infallible Word of God, and the Church is the infallible interpreter of the Faith of Christianity. The Catechism is a sure way to learn the correct way to understand Catholicism.
And it came to pass, that Jesus and his disciples were walking along the Sea of Galilee. And they asked him, saying: Lord, what shall we do when thou art taken from us?
And He spake unto them, saying: Fear ye not, but trust the Lord your God.
And straightaway he raiseth his arms up to heaven in thanksgiving and saith: I thank thee, Abba, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for thou always hearest mine prayer: and I implore thee that thou helpest these poor followers of mine, and give thee unto them that precious book of thine which they shall solely need for their justification.
And no sooner had He said thus, there came a book from the heaven and dropped unto the hands of Jesus. And lo, the front and the back of the book is exceeding red as unto blood, being covered with skins, and it was exceeding thick as a stone, and it weigheth twoscore pounds, and it was written in large, thick letters of black ink, and on the front of it was graven thus in letters of gold: YE HOLYE BYBLE, AUTHORYSED KYNGE JAYMES VERSYON. And below them was graven a number: a thousand six-hundred and eleven.
And He spake unto them, saying, Take ye, distribute amongst yourselves: this is the inspired and infallible word of my Father, which is printed for you. This read in remembrance of me.
And straightaway the disciples taketh the book from the hands of the Lord, and they wondered greatly who James was. James the son of Zebedee and James of Alpheus denied that it be them, and they pursued the matter not further. But rather they said thus amongst themselves: We should not worry about such small things, for verily, the Lord hath turned his face unto us, giving unto us his holy word. And they cried out, saying, Praise and glory and honour be unto God, for he hath granted us salvation and justification through his infallible word.

😉 😃

To answer the OP, I’ll repeat what everyone had just said: because the Bible cannot, does not, and is not designed to, explain or interpret itself.

Exactly! The Catechism and the Bible go hand in hand together. I am exploring the faith as part of my conversion process before I am confirmed, and I love reading the Catechism. It really helps me to understand what the bible can’t explain in detail. It is simple and plain to read.
Think of the latest Ford car commercials where this couple imagine a bed OR breakfast scene where people are sleeping in their breakfast and the wife says “and is much better” So it is with “the Bible AND the Catechism” rather than “the Bible OR the Catechism”😃

Haha! Not many people know this, but when the woman was caught in adultery, that was the mysterious thing that Jesus wrote in the sand, the Authorized King James Version. It took about 30 acres of land.

Contrary to popular opinion, an angel did NOT one day drop a full-blown copy of Scripture over the banister of heaven.:rolleyes: Also ever hear the joke about the woman caught in adultery where Jesus says “the one who is without sin among you may cast the first stone”. Suddenly out of the crowd came a rock that hit the woman in the head. Jesus rose up and said “MOTHER sometimes you just annoy the daylights out of me!”😃

I must have missed this post! Patrick, where did you get the info on this??? I never heard of Jesus being handed the KJV bible from Heaven.

Ok, thank you for that clarification! There was no scripture being dropped down from Heaven! 😃 And that joke about Jesus’s mother!! :rotfl:

Same here, sola scriptura was programed into my brain for a long time and it took a while before I was able to get it out of my thinking altogether, even after I completely submitted myself to Catholicism. I am so thankful that I have the 2000 years of Catholicism to go to rather than being another dime-a-dozen self-righteous subjective interpreter of the Bible, which I was.
Well said, but with me my conversion was enhanced by studying the Cathecism PRIOR to my move. I got tired of seeing my protestant brothers moving fm church to church because of their subjective interpretations of many parts of the Bible. The Catechism is indeed a gift! Too bad many (or most) Catholics don’t truly appreciate it.

Absolutely! The whole church hopping and church splits over any and everything imaginable. I got tired of the churches operating like retail stores, all trying new things to get new members, which mostly what happens is churches drawing other people from other churches with gimics and entertainment, no real expanding of God’s kingdom.
