Jesus and the Apostoles spoke in Aramaic. The early christians in Rome, mostly slaves , spoke Greek. Their masters spoke Greek as well as Latin. The venacular at that time was Greek. Latin was the official language of Rome.
Mass started in aramaic, moved to Greek, and ultimately Latin.
It appears that after a two thousand year hiatus, give a few years or two, we are back in the venacular as well as retaining the tradition of Latin.
