Lecture Here

I’m watching this at the moment; it’s very interesting.
I’m up to 24min and it looks like Aristotle’s and Aquinas’ insistance on the nature of substances stands, at least down to the proton level. Don’t know if I will finish, much beyond me. And it doesn’t help that Fr. talks like he has much in his mouth.

Just finished. I found the question and answer period at the end most interesting. Looks like Aristotle and Aquinas are alive and well at Oxford - at least at Trinity College. 👍

I can think of a number of our posters on this fourm who should definitely watch this video.

I had watched this before when the view count was even smaller, and felt he was pushing his idea well beyond breaking point. It seemed the audience thought the same as in the Q&A they were most civilized in how they tore him to pieces. Did Aristotle actually mean math when he said form? Em, well, no, probably not. Etc.

There are hundreds of lectures of this kind. On the same YouTube page you’ll find Lee Smolin talking about the bee in his particular bonnet. He might deem Pinsent as yet another reductionist time denier.

As a jazz singer eloquently put it, I push the other valve down / the music goes 'round and around / whoa-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho / and it comes out here. 🙂

Now how did I know this would be your response? Thank goodness people can view the video for themselves and make up their own minds.
