Why remain Christian, especially Catholic when I could instead choose Buddhism?

Thank you. I’m actually inquiring for my Catholic educated 32 yr old son, who left the church while in college. He and his wife, along with their friends, are well educated and very liberal in their beliefs. They believe in separation of religion and state, being pro choice, euthanasia and gay marriage. Their disdain for President Trump is frightening and my son says he’s the devil. My son was once pro life so it’s heart breaking that he’s changed his views.
I’ve always had a good relationship with my son and he remains a very polite, respectful, compassionate person so it’s disturbing that he now questions Christianity. His words to me in a recent phone conversation were, “How do we know that Christianity is the right religion? There’s many others, such as Buddhism, Hinduism.”
This story is all too often told as a consequence of sending one’s child/children off to college. Parents do what they can for 18 yrs raising their children in the faith, then off to college they go and within a short time, are no longer practicing their faith because of all the conflicting influences thrown at them. No matter what a person’s declared major is, everyone back in the 60’s had to take a bunch of liberal arts subjects. I’m speaking from my experience. And it is HERE that one’s faith is going to be attacked. i.e. in sociology, philosophy etc. Back when I was earning my degrees in public institutions, I had to endure some “professors” called Dr, as in ALL were PhD’s where I attended. Endure is putting it lightly. I couldn’t wait for finals in their classes. My parents didn’t have to worry about me, because my faith has always been solid. But I could see that if one was squishy, or weak in their faith, they were toast.

As for why remain Christian? for space considerations

there are catholics ,who converted to buddhism ,then reverted to the church .there have been life long buddhists, who became catholic.i know one of them, who became a nun!

My first thought would be to ask your son about whether he wants eternal life. As I understand it, Buddhism believes in reincarnation until one achieves a form of nothingness, whereas Christianity believes in a resurrection.
Umm… they’re already stoned in Boulder. 😉
🤣🤣🤣

I’ve so many friends who are strong practicing Catholics yet all their kids have left the church. .
Why do you think that is the case in the USA and western Europe? In the USA and Holland, many Catholic Churches are deserted. It seems that Russia is the great enemy of the USA with the news outlets questioning the loyalty of any American who happens to be in the same room with a Russian official during an international conference. But under Putin, Russia has rebuilt hundreds of Orthodox Churches with more and more people embracing the Russian Orthodox faith.

Well if you require intellectual response. And spiritual. Application then
Johnathon cahn . books and teachings give a biblical understanding to Donald trump. On the Elijah paradigm.
Or mark Taylor. The prophet fire fighter. Predicted Donald trump
Or Kim Clement . prophet predicted Donald

So if he has never seen a prophetic in real life. This is an opportunity. Of a life time

HOW ABOUT

The TRUTH which can only be singular per defined issue

And Heaven And HELL are very real and last forever

He warns them of the danger of falling by apostasy and exhorts them to patience and perseverance.

[1] Wherefore leaving the word of the beginning of Christ, let us go on to things more perfect, not laying again the foundation of penance from dead works, and of faith towards God, [2] Of the doctrine of baptisms, and imposition of hands, and of the resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. [3] And this will we do, if God permit. [4] For it is impossible for those who were once illuminated, have tasted also the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, [5] Have moreover tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

Douay Bible explains it
[1] “The word of the beginning”: The first rudiments of the Christian doctrine.

[4] “It is impossible”: The meaning is, that it is impossible for such as have fallen after baptism, to be again baptized; and very hard for such as have apostatized from the faith, after having received many graces, to return again to the happy state from which they fell.

[6] And are fallen away: to be renewed again to penance, crucifying again to themselves the Son of God, and making him a mockery. [7] For the earth that drinketh in the rain which cometh often upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is tilled, receiveth blessing from God. [8] But that which bringeth forth thorns and briers, is reprobate, and very near unto a curse, whose end is to be burnt

Hope, this Book, Helps repentance and conversion of your son.

The Mystical City of God: Life of the Virgin Mother of God, manifested to Sister Mary of Jesus of Agreda, 1602-1666 - Imprimatur H. J. Alerding, Bishop of Fort Wayne. Rome City, Ind., Aug. 24, 1912.

Mary of Agreda died on the 24th of May, 1665 A.D., on the Feast of Pentecost. Shortly afterwards, the process of the Ordinary was drawn up on the virtues and miracles in general of the fama sanctitatis. The petition for her canonization was offered November 21, 1671 A.D. Clement X introduced the cause on the 24th of August, 1672 A.D. The commission of introduction was signed January 28, 1673 A.D. The decree of non-culte was carried on June 27, 1674 A.D. The apostolic process on the sanctity, the virtues and miracles in general was begun on September 2, 1679 A.D. The process was opened, the servant of God declared Venerable, and, in fine, on the 16th of December, 1689 A.D., a committee of consulters was named by Innocent XI for the examination of the works. In fine, Clement XIV declared that the book, The Mystical City, really was written by Mary of Agreda (Rome officially verified the fact). Hopefully when the True Church overcomes the Evil Eclipse now upon it, Venerable Mary of Agreda will receive the rare and seldom seen, honor of beatification and then hopefully someday canonization (i.e. to be named a Roman Catholic Saint).
