Why Should I Venerate Mary?

While I accept Jesus as the Messiah and God as the Father and creator of the universe, why should I venerate the Virgin Mary? What can she do for me and others who don’t like her, or for Christians who do like her? And for those who don’t approve of her, how can we see that she’d not hold a grudge against us then when we turn away from our negativity and try to love her? How do we love and venerate her?
