Why was "Medjugorje" closed?

I am not sure what sort of people run this board, but it seems just plain rude to close threads without even a hint as to why. All I would like is to know “Medjugorje” was closed…simple request really. I was actually learning quite a bit from that thread, and then poof it disappeared and then returned closed. Why? If something was wrong about that thread, then it would nice to know for future reference.

Threads are closed if the discussion runs downhill, if the thread is being reduced to bickering, if the tone sours, if posters are persistently rude, if the thread might tend to mislead people about the Church’s teachings, and the like.

Moderators are given wide authority to close threads when they deem doing so is advantageous to the overall utility of the forums.

Without this sort of control this wonderful facility would be reduced to the rubble of most forums. I welcome the diligent monitoring even if I disagree with some of the results. Keep up the good work.

Thank you for responding…that is what I thought. Honestly I am at a loss as to why that thread was shut down. Truthfully, I did not know where the Church stood regarding the alledged apparitions at Medjugorje, yet I learned a great deal from that thread and imo there was no hostility of any kind. I know this board is fairly new, and perhaps people pull the “closed” sign down a bit too quickly, yet I am at a total loss as to what was wrong with that thread. In fact, that thread had strongly supported Church statements, so I am not sure how it could lead anyone astray. I was merely seeking opinions about a mysterious subject and had been given some sound information.
