Once again, thank you for your kindness. You and I can easily see how the Aramaic takes presidence over the ancient Greek translation based on the Greek language which assigned male and female gender to objects, as does some modern languages. But, those who do not want to accept the petrine office ignore the Aramaic or downplay it in order use the Greek as their starting point. Getting them to let go of putting the Greek above the Aramaic is next to impossible because they donāt want to do it. They say, āWell the Bible was written in Greek, so God must have wanted us to go by the Greek translation alone,ā and other such twists in logic in order to hang onto what they want to believe.I agree completely with your summation. I feel that what I quoted is the āmost solid baseā from which to launch our truth, so I suggest it as a very prudent starting point. I would also explain what it sayās and not assume a proper Catholic truthful understanding of these passages, which make itās truth even more evident and more difficult to deny. Iāve read and participated in many threads on the subject and very rarely if never does someone who will not accept Peter as the first pope or the succession of popes do so based on the Matthew passage. And thatās why there are thousands of denominations. Each group interprets the Bible as they please, many, especially the newest ones, without regard for Sacred Tradition (from which the NT sprang) or consulting any other Christian body, each telling themselves they are restoring the āancient Church.ā It can be quite frustrating, I know.
