Why would the use of beads for counting prayers not have been unusual when the rosary was first developed?

There were no calculators. Paper was expensive, and stone records were cumbersome. The entire numerical system was thought of differently…as some cultures didn’t even have counting numbers.

The only way to keep track of things was a 1 for 1 “trade-off”.

This “trade-off” nature really reflects prayer beads as you don’t need to know how to count, or have any number theory in order to say the rosary or chaplet.

I make rosaries with beads called Job/s Tear seeds. They have a natural hole through them and their history as prayer beads is phenomenal. Maybe someone can google and post? Have to go soon to see if they can get me home today… Pray on that please? Blessings and thanks.

i pray the rosary on a green sting made by my daughter when she was 12 yrs old

i had it blessed at a Marian shrine
