I was reading the post about an annulment not being the same as a divorce & that a valid marriage in never annulled. I am wondering, I was married once before, when I was 20 & was widowed when I was 21. We were not married in the Catholic church, but does this cause any type of problem with my current marriage?

I am no expert at all but my understanding is that your vows are in “effect” until death do you part.
I apologize for my simplicity, I am no apologist just a girl with a hunch. 🙂

No it doesn’t, once one spouse dies the other is free to remarry. To be widowed at 21 must have been a very difficult thing to go through. My heart goes out to you.

Are you currently married in the church?

So, once my first husband died, it was “okay” to get married again. Are both marriages valid? Hopefully just the current one.

Hi Rayne, Yes we’re married in the church. Being widowed so young was a hard thing to go through. I just thank God we didn’t have children.
