Can’t delete my post (didn’t realize that) so I’m editing my question

Would your mom date a married man? Dating someone that is divorced but has not been granted an annulment is the same as dating a married man.

The priest at confession told her that he is still married in the eyes of the church, though she didn’t mention that he is not Catholic.
He is still married. It doesn’t matter whether or not he is Catholic.
but does this mean that she can’t even date him unless he is annulled? Is it considered adultery and is she in a state of mortal sin?
It’s in the realm of prudential judgment.
I also don’t know how I would bring this up to my mom if she isn’t supposed to be dating him.
It’s not your business. Leave that between her, her priest, and her friend.

It doesn’t matter, because his marriage is considered valid until it is proven not to be.

I know it’s technically none of my business but as she is my mother I am of course worried for her soul. She would guide me not to be living in mortal sin so I want to do the same for her

Again: it’s not your business and not your place. She did not ask for your opinion.

It’s a prudential matter best discussed with her priest.

This is the person to be following up with, not a bunch of strangers on some online forum. Just talk to the priest 🙂
