Oh I am so sorry to hear this especially if some cases are arson. It is devastating
to see the results of these fires. I have not seen anything on the news.
Prayers for the firefighters and all personnel fighting the fires and praying the culprits
will be arrested.
 
May God strengthen and sustain the firefighters, heal those who have suffered loss, and send the needed rains to Ireland. :gopray2:

The Galway fire is the worst most of the firefighters have ever seen. I am miles from it but the air outside even here has that unmistakable taint of smoke, They say the fire now is 5 ks long and is still out of control and spreading across bogland.

The causes are twofold. Arson ,and the stupid and illegal burning of vegetation which is not allowed between March 1st and August end .

The sheer number of fires here now is appalling.

Maybe a few showers Thursday and Friday but them hopefully real rain at the weekend

I hear you . But we have great needs in so many areas and catering for this criminal lunacy? They are at base an emergency service, and have done wonders in making sure the Wind Farm was kept safe.

And 27 would rarely be needed often enough to be viable and they need more personnel as there are iften not enough recurits to man the choppers; as we saw when the Air Rescue flight went down with all crew on a mission this year

This arson is not new; when I was first in ireland, 16 years ago , saw a great blaze on the opposite mountains and a new friend told me her father worked for the forestry and they would fin eg candles lft burning deliberately

What is needed is modern vigilance with up to date radar watch etc. And to catch someone which as far as I know has yet to be done?

In that first year, I was high up and remote and my cottage filled with smoke. I dialled 999 and after 20 minutes the operator still had not been able to make contact with the fire service They sent the forestry folk instead.

And for Teasasc and others to enforce modern farming methods that do not involve deliberate but antiquated "slash and burn " traditions

And to stop the plans to extend the burning season

Spreading still. Smoke has gone from here. The photos are scary, and they are having trouble with SIGHTSEERS. So little they can do now. I was driving through that area on Saturday and saw the thick, dry vegetation and remember thinking, how terrible if that caught fire.

Dear Lord, protect all who are striving to keep homes safe this long night. Keep them safe. Please protect the people living there, and all the wild critters that are so precious … our songbirds …Blessings and thanks always.

6 am here and just checked.

Thankfully with calmer conditions, the fire is at present under control although they know that could change any time

Even more thankfully, we “may” get even some rain later today

Flames up to 60 feet… And volatile,

All thanks to the firefighters and pilots.

Clear air here as the wind is taking the smoke away from us. Glad to see the chopper patrolling here yesterday,

So good to see them doing that work. Please God today sees at least some rain.

NB You will still meet folk who love hot weather and say why are you wanting rain!
