I feel the same way. I feel Camilla would be more suited to be the Queen Mother (I love Diana but she seemed too naiave). Adultery unfortunately seemed to be common. I find it to be despicable, but like you said, we aren’t English. It seems to be common unfortunately. People liked Diana because it was the whole fairy tale. But Charles was in a romantic thing with Camilla since like 1970. I feel bad for Diana because nobody deserves that, but I like Camilla as a public figure.

As a British person I would just say (I cannot speak for the entire UK of course but) I take exception to your term " They also accept the concept of a royal mistress in general".

Of al the people I know in the UK not one person accepts the concept of a mistress at all.

There are many who have taken to accepting Camilla but not everyone by a long way.

I agree with you that I thoguht Charles (and the entire royal family who had knowledge of this affair) were disgusting in their treatment of Diana.

Most Catholics in the UK are naturally not royalist people but we have respect for them as we do for everyone and pray for them as for everyone throughout the world.

As regards this thread about considering position on abortion because William and Kate are having a baby (which I am thrilled for them about).I do not understand the reason for this question in the thread.Why would someone alter their view because a celebrity being pregnant (and I agree with the terminology of BlueEyedLady).?

You don’t know the mental gymnastics that some people go through justify the illogical.🤷

Some will even go so far as to compare the annual 10-20 executions of multiple murderers convicted by juries of their peers (some several times) to the massacre of millions of the unborn that got one trial back in 1973.

Well, to a person, everyone I have discussed it with acknowledges that many of the royal males have taken mistresses, and perhaps “accept” it is a little too strong, but they certainly don’t raise an eyebrow. After this much time, the talk is more along the lines that Diana was too weak of a person for the royal family and her own vulnerability got in her way much more than Charles’ relationship with Camilla. But maybe the people I talk to are the exception and not the rule…🤷 Whenever I read news stories about it, I get the feeling it’s really all over and now that the truth is known, it’s time to be practical and move on with things.

Well, actually, that may be the larger group, but it makes a change of conversation at the local, rather than the football matches or the weather. 😉

On a thread in the world news formun, a poster brought up the prochoice/prolife debate. I thougt that a thread from the angle of this news. It may or may not change any ones veiws but you never can tell.🤷

What if William and Kate said, “Let’s have an abortion - this is only a piece of tissue at this stage.” Somehow, I just don’t that would go over too big.

If abortion is not okay for William and Kate, then why would it be okay for anyone?
