Will God answer prayers if one is in Mortal Sin?

I’m talking about petition prayers.

Suppose someone is living a sinful lifestyle and no near resolution of changing. They are going through a life challenge e.g. financial difficulties, family difficulties, health problems etc.

Would God still answer their prayers if they ask for help with resolving those issues?

Up until recently when I discovered mortal sin, I was doing acts that are considered such and God was always with me and listening to my prayers, that knowledge made me fearful and shifted my faith in a scrupulous direction.

and daughters of God. “If your son asks
for bread, will you give him a stone, or
if he asks for a fish, will you give him a
scorpion?” This is from Jesus Himself.
Matt. 9:9-11.
“the sacrifices of God are a humble spirit
and a contrite heart, whose prayers You
will not refuse” See Ps. 51
“[those] that cry to the Lord in their distress,
He heard them and delivered them from
all their troubles” Ps. 107
“Jesus told them this parable (of the persist-
ant widow and the unjust judge) so that
the disciples should pray and not GIVE UP”

Also, it says in James 1:5,
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you
should ask God WHO GIVES
generously to all W/O FINDING
FAULT and it shall be given unto
him”!!
