Will God forgive me and still help me?

I’m going through a difficult time at the moment, and I’ve been praying to God asking for help but the problem still persists. I made a topic on here asking for prayers to help my lost cat find it’s way back home to me and he’s still missing and I am really struggling. I’ve been a smoker for 4 years and have tried to quit but it is difficult, so of course I’ve been smoking to help me cope with this ordeal I know this is a sin as I am harming my body but now is a terrible time for me to quit smoking, I am really stressed and depressed.

I’d like to know, will God still hear my prayers and help me if I continue to smoke to alleviate some of my stress through this horrible time I’m going through?

Yes, God hears all those who call out to Him.

An observation? There’s not even unambiguous agreement that smoking is a sin at all.

Stop beating yourself up. Note also that with COVID everything is out of sorts and smoking a few cigarettes is IMHO about as innocuous a coping mechanism I can imagine.

My spiritual director told me smoking is stupid but not a sin. Even Ratzinger enjoyed his Marlboros.

Did you put the cat’s used litter outside, along with some dirty clothing? Cats that escape are quite typically not far away from home at all, hiding in bushes or the like. Make sure you put these familiar smelling items outside so they attract your cat. Also, you can usually rent a live trap from a pet rescue or pet shot and bait it with smelly cat food, like tuna.

@Limoncello4021 Thank you for your reply. I put his tray out there, a bit of heated up tuna, his blanket and some of my unwashed laundry. He escaped by jumping out of a 2 story window left open by my mother. She found him a few hours later in our backyard but he was in shock, she spooked him when she tried to catch him and he ran off. There is only one way up to my unit and I have a security camera pointing at it. I’ve been up all night and saw a few strays come and eat the food. I’m not handling the situation well, I’ve been praying constantly since yesterday but he is yet to return. God bless.
