This won’t make sense to everybody, but I think suffering in this life, in all its forms, is a way to point us to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, may They be praised, worshiped and adored forever.

I agree with you, Rick! Nobody goes through life on earth without some type of suffering. If we learn to offer our sufferings to God, joining them with the sufferings of Our Lord Jesus, we are participating in the salvation of souls! Paul, in his epistles, has much to say about suffering. Just look up “suffering” or “cross” in a concordance and you’ll be amazed!

Jesus never promised us that we wouldn’t suffer. In fact, He said that the servent is NOT greater than the master. He is the master, and we the servents. And He did say we would have troubles, and that the world would hate us because of Him. Does that sound like we would be spared?
