Will Greeks give up episcopal celibacy?

I don’t think so. It’s a very ancient tradtion, and Orthodox are very big on tradtion.

I doubt they will, but this will probably lead to another schism.

They were? I thought that our bishops were guilty of covering up pedophilic PRIESTS who were guilty of molestation, not guilty of molestation themselves.

According to the article a high ranking official was caught with young men.
Metropolitan Panteleimon of Attica, who headed Greece’s richest diocese, was withdrawn from duties after allegations of “lewd exchanges with young men” and charges that he had embezzled around €4.4m (£3m) for “his old age.”

Looks like secularization has crept into the Greek church as well. But I doubt it will end celibacy for Bishops. Rather a back to the gospel discipline must be restored. People today wonder why the apostolic churches have all these archaic “rules” for the church; its to maintain high standards and discipline. When prelates start buying into the lax hippy culture, then discipline declines and scandals arise.
 
I doubt they will. I’ve never understood why people think that relaxing sexual standands will solve a problem caused by relaxed sexual standards! :whacky:
 
I hope not, they are christians and europeans and a pillar of the european christianity and I don´t want that the situation worse, greetings
