As I am reading all the post in regards to the political dilema a lot of states are facing this election, a thought came into my head and I am just courious if anyone else feels the same way.

My hypothosis is that the “lesser of two evils” view is a slippery slope. If we accept it this time, in the futre it will keep getting worse.

Will there be a time in the future when all Republican candidates will be moderatly pro choice/life because they know that we will vote for the lesser of two evils? Are we Republican lemmings?

I see things like plan b and embryonic stem cell research as an example of how Republicans are willing to keep moving towards the moderate stand. Who knows where it will end?

Then if that is the case , does it mean we should stop pushing for an all out ban on abortion and just be content with limiting abortions, because in my opinon, that’s what the “lesser of two evils” is conditioning me for.

I hope I am making sense here, and if you think I am way off base…please let me know.

It depends on which candidates from the Republicans Party come forward. Some say Gov. Pataski from NY is good. I like Gov. Carcieri from RI because both he and his wife are pro-life. The question becomes how pro-life? I don’t know his stand on issues like immigration or the war.

Will Rep. Pat Buchanan run? He is a good candidate.

If there is no good republican candidate then we are on the slippery slope which you talk of going nowhere and I will look to the Constitutional Party which is 100% pro-life.

In Illinois is Judy Topinka (GOP) who is like Rod Blogojevich (DEM) who both support having let your mom abort you if they wanted to for any reason while pregnant with you. They also support same-sex civil unions as does Rich Whitney of the Green Party. Wite-in candidate Randy Stufflebeam at www.runrandyrun.com is against both gay civil unions and abortion. I am a baby boomer like all of these candidates named and I am also a lifelong resident of Illinois. Was born in Chicago. I will be casting a write-in vote for Randy Stufflebeam in 2006 for Illinois Governor. Telling others about him and encouraging them to cast a write-in vote for him too! www.runrandyrun.com

I just hope people are going to get out there and vote next week. At the state level, it seems alittle different.

Many of the Republican governors have been great at using their veto power on pro-abortion bills. It may be that they want to run for President but who cares?
