Will we have new names in Heaven?

Are the verses in the Bible about new names figurative? I really don’t want to be called by my legal, earthly name in Heaven, to be honest.

We cannot really tell.

But since you will receive a new body; why not also hope for a new name?

I mean, bodies are what makes each of us someBODY. Names just get assigned to us almost as an afterthought.

I’d think a new body pretty much requires a new name.

Also, while in our modern world persons are often named for parents or grandparents, etc, in Scripture a person’s name in Hebrew had a specific meaning. I’d hazard a guess that in life everlasting, human names will have similar meanings.

ICXC NIKA.

Maybe, obviously the references in the Bible are to God’s judgement of individual souls and their ultimate destiny in Eternity. I imagine God will give us names that reflect are true deeds and personality for all to see.

I thought that was why we choose saintly Confirmation names 😃

But seriously, I think that most things that are staples of our earthly existence will either not matter much, or not exist at all, once we get to Heaven. We definitely won’t have a 10:00 bedtime, we definitely will not have to get up at 6:00 in the morning to go to work, and I don’t think our names will matter. We’ll all be in the glory of God’s presence all the time; what could possibly be more important than that?
