Do you think that we will remember our earthly lives in heaven? And remember who we were on earth? Ive read that we WILL remember who we were and our eartly lives…but that ONLY the bad memories including sin sorrow sadness will be erased…for example if u had a lover you would only remember the good times u had with him or her and if u had fights and sinned…that wouldnt come to mind…so how we remember our earthly lives will be something like that too…?..i was hoping that if i do reach heaven…i would start a new existence forgetting and erasing all my time on earth…

I would want to know, that way I don’t make the same mistakes! 😃

I believe that our relationships as a spouse, parent, child will not transcend as such but we will see and know our loved ones. To me, going to Heaven is something we cannot imagine or anticipate because our earthly minds cannot comprehend the possibilities.

I think we would remember all of our earthly lives. All of the bits, both good and bad, contributed to make us who we are, and if we’re in Heaven, that can only be good. 🙂

I think we would certainly remember our sins, because they are a reminder of how much God loves us because He forgave them all. And I think we would remember the things that made us sad here–the difference being that they would no longer make us sad. We would be able to see how “… in everything God works for good with those who love him…” (Rom. 8:28). We would see how even the sad things that happened, God used them for good, for us or for others.

Just my ideas, though, I don’t know if there is an official teaching on this.

There’s no reason to believe we wouldn’t. Our mind is part of our soul, and will be preserved for when our aliveness is restored.

I thought I had it RIGHT when I conjectured that we
will not have our memories after death, since our
brains will deteriorate. But after some meditating on
this and sharing with other believers, here’s what I came
up with. Our memories will be KEPT SAFE with Christ,
our HEAD, only they will be filtered thru LOVE and
perhaps we will all SHARE memories of happy times
with believers throughout the ages, wouldn’t that
be cool!!!

Because our mind is spiritual, it will be protected from death, but may go into an abeyance when our heads stop working.

When we have a spiritual body (pneumatikon soma) (ie. a new head), we will have them unblemished. But our LORD would add HIS thoughts concerning our life as well to our mind.

i believe we all have a mission in life we were sent here to do something important and if u don’t achieve it u reincarnate to try again and if u did then u go to heaven to truly be one with god just a thought. i think u will remember ur time on earth

I think that we’ll be in such awe of where we are and the love surrounding us, that it won’t be necessary to remember the details of our lives on Earth. We probably could, but what we’ll have then will be so awesome that we won’t want or need to. I do believe that we’ll know the people we have loved here and if they’re up there with us, we’ll experience the love we feel for them in a way that’s so far beyond what we have experienced here. It will be perfect and unconditional, even if we remember the “goods and bads” (from a human perspective) about them.
