It is also the norm in the East for infants, as it was in the 'West before the Cup was suppressed .

After the Consecration of each species, the substance of the bread and the substance of the wine cease to exist. The Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ are really, truly and substantially present under each Species. So one receives Christ whole and entire under one or both Species.
 
I always do receive only from the chalice as I can’t handle being an inconvenience to the priests or extraordinary ministers in requiring a gluten free host that is also valid mattter for consecration.I go to a parish where I can approach the person holding the chalice, without having to confuse anyone or causing any delays to other communicants. I know that in receiving from the chalice I’m fully welcoming the Lord.
