I thought reading it that some of the sins listed as mortal were odd. Just a quick website search and it turned out this is a Latin Mass only parish…

It’s unfortunate, because much of the list was pretty good. But some were quite bizarre. Not sending your child to a Catholic school or choosing to attend a nonCatholic college is listed under mortal sins. Really? So I committed a mortal sin since I went to the University of Arizona?

I am still not sure what being “a Latin Mass only parish…” has to do with the process of anyone examining his or her conscience.

I believe his point was that some traditional churches (ie ones that only use the Latin mass) can have stricter Ideas about what is or isn’t a sin, which is why some things included on the list of mortal sins seem a little bizarre - like not sending your children to Catholic school.

Thanks, that’s exactly what I meant. It seems the list was written in 1959.
