John 6:54

Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.

Does this mean if you don’t do this you don’t have eternal life ?

That seems to be what Jesus meant in John 6. When the people questioned this, Jesus didn’t say “Oh, I meant that figuratively.” No, he doubled down and said “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you.”

Yes. Christ pretty clearly tells us we need to do this. The Church obliges that you receive communion at least once per year.

CCC 1417: “The Church warmly recommends that the faithful receive Holy Communion when they participate in the celebration of the Eucharist; she obliges them to do so at least once a year.”

Most of my family don’t partake so I’m very nervous for them

Would this mean that you must for salvation consume the Host atleast once in your life?

The graces of the Eucharist, which are ordinarily received in the sacrament, are necessary to have eternal life. God has bound salvation to the sacraments, but he himself is not bound by his sacraments.
