Wk 2 - Day - 4: "acquiring an understanding of Mary""

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today in this present period of trial within the Catholic Church, how we need Mary’s intercession! God, give us Grace to acquire a deeper understanding of Mary as our Mother and Model for the Church. God, grant us a share in Jesus’ obedience to her and Joseph – that we may become truly child-like – meek and humble as Jesus bids us to learn from Him through Mary: “Behold Your Mother!”

From True Devotion:
  1. Show me a new road to our Lord, pave it with all the merits of the saints, adorn it with their heroic virtues, illuminate and enhance it with the splendour and beauty of the angels, have all the angels and saints there to guide and protect those who wish to follow it. Give me such a road and truly, truly, I boldly say - and I am telling the truth - that instead of this road, perfect though it be, I would still choose the immaculate way of Mary. It is a way, a road without stain or spot, without original sin or actual sin, without shadow or darkness,. When our loving Jesus comes in glory once again to reign upon earth - as he certainly will - he will choose no other way than the Blessed Virgin, by whom he came so surely and so perfectly the first time. The difference between his first and his second coming is that the first was secret and hidden, but the second will be glorious and resplendent. Both are perfect because both are through Mary. Alas, this is a mystery which we cannot understand, “Here let every tongue be silent.”

  1. Each day of the second week they should endeavour in all their prayers and works to acquire an understanding of the Blessed Virgin and ask the Holy Spirit for this grace. They may read and meditate upon what we have already said about her. They should recite daily the Litany of the Holy Spirit and the Ave Maris Stella as during the first week. In addition they will say at least five decades of the Rosary for greater understanding of Mary.

Thank you Maria Christi.

It is important during times of darkness to look to Our Blessed Mother.

She stood at the foot of the cross of Her Beloved Son in prayer, (not with a baseball bat) as She had undying faith in the Resurrection and Her Son.

Continued from above, I was called away with my little daughter…☺️

In other words, in my personal thoughts, Mary compels us to keep our eyes on the Victim, and for us to keep our eyes on things above, and renewal.Righteous battles are to be prayed about before action.

Thank you again Maria Christi for posting the prayers and the writings of St. Louis De Montfort during my renewal of Consecration. I have bookmarked them.

Thanks so much for your replies. I’ll answer both in this one reply.

Regarding the second reply, I understand very well how little ones need a mother’s attention. That is part of my confidence in Mary: she understands how dependent we are on her intercession – God has given us into her care and He always gives His Grace for anything He asks. Yes, Mary is both Mother and Model of the Church.

My thoughts like yours have been focused on Jesus Who suffered immeasurable pain in His Passion for all the horrible sins in every age. In each victim of abuse the predators have failed to recognize Him, and or remember Jesus’ words. “Whatever you do …you do it to Me”. Whether the abuse victims were children or adults, and one study says over 80% were not children but adolescents or adults – those victims have suffered terrible wounds. God is now letting His Light and Truth cleanse the wounds inflicted on the sacred Temples of their souls and wounds to His Church Universal. When one member suffers, we all suffer.

As to our temptations, toward anger, referred to in both replies, it is understandable from a natural human standpoint, yet God’s Word helps us in Ephesians 4: verses 25, 26, 27:
25 Therefore, putting away falsehood, speak the truth, each one to his neighbor, for we are members one of another.
26 Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun set on your anger,
27 and do not leave room for the devil.

Mary standing at the foot of the Cross, was silent, firm in her supernatural Faith in God. She kept her eyes on Jesus and listened to His Last Words. Mary heard Him say, “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do”. Mary could not have completely understood His words for she is not God. Only God can reach the depths of our hearts and know why we do what we do. Mary heard the taunts and blasphemies of the crowd, she saw His wounds. She simply listened. Mary knew only God judges hearts. Her heart pondered His words and actions.

By God’s Grace, we can discern spirits and God’s Word helps us toward this, if we read and listen carefully and prayerfully to the First Letter of John esp. Chapter 4. When we are called to speak the Truth we cannot be afraid but we need to speak the Truth in love.

So my dearest sister in Christ, we need to continue asking God’s Grace to help us become more like our Mother and Model – to acquire by the power of His Holy Spirit a knowledge of her and so grow closer to Christ each day as she did. The closer we are to her the closer we are to Him. Their hearts are so united by Love.
