This is a program on EWTN, but how excited I am to find a study group at my new parish! I signed up to attend the last study/prayer meeting last month, but my sister came to stay with me at the last minute, who was having some issues. But, it’s taking place again this month (first Saturday of every month) for women, and second Saturday for men. Pretty cool! I got a nice email today from one of the women who runs it…explaining that there will be mass, Benediction, gospel study, studying of a female saint…and basically a time to socialize to meet new women. I’m so excited!:bounce:

Just wondering if anyone here has similiar parish prayer groups for women? Do you have Women of Grace study groups?

PS–To the mods–if this is in the wrong place, please redirect it. I apologize if so, but I thought that it kind of fit the Evangelization category, as that is what this group is designed to teach.
 
Every Friday morning after the 8:30 Mass we have something called “Reflection Time”. It is convenient for the daily Mass goers, and it is open to men as well. About one dozen attend. We keep it simple by just serving coffee, and encouraging those who haven’t eaten an early breakfast to bring a brown bag breakfast for themselves.

We start with a prayer, discuss briefly any business, and then get into the topic we are discussing and sharing about that day.
This group has been going on for about eight years now, and we have purchased and discussed books about saints, (Companions on the Journey series), Catholic Update Circulars, watched Catholic videos and then discussed them, Sunday Scriptures, CD’s on Catholic topics, and sometimes articles in our local Catholic paper. We close with a prayer chosen by the leader for that day.

We take turns being the leader, on a volunteer basis. All the leader has to do is start with the opening prayer, and politely intervene if the conversation gets sidetracked to a topic that has nothing to do with what we are discussing. 🙂 There is a closing prayer, chosen by the leader.

Most of the time one of our parish priests joins us for about 20 minutes, and answers any questions we have.

The “Women of Grace” group sounds great and very spiritual. I’m sure you and the others will get a lot out of it.
 
I’ve been thru the Women of Grace study twice - so far! Several women said their husbands wished there was something like it for men. How does it work out with the men? Do they use the same books?
