At a pivotal time in the abortion debate, Ms. magazine is releasing its fall issue next week with a cover story titled “We Had Abortions,” accompanied by the names of thousands of women nationwide who signed a petition making that declaration.
The publication coincides with what the abortion-rights movement considers a watershed moment for its cause. Abortion access in many states is being curtailed, activists are uncertain about the stance of the U.S. Supreme Court, and South Dakotans vote Nov. 7 on a measure that would ban virtually all abortions in their state, even in cases of rape and incest.

“All this seems very dire,” said Eleanor Smeal, president of the Feminist Majority Foundation, which publishes Ms. “We have to get away from what the politicians are saying,” she said, “and get women’s lives back in the picture.”

SO the fate of abortion is every so slowly becoming darker and less sure. All I can say is :clapping:

Never understood the case for abortion. When is murder right? Especialy murder for the sake of convenience.

Some famous, but most not
The signatories include Ms. founder Gloria Steinem, comedian Carol Leifer, and actresses Kathy Najimy and Amy Brenneman, but most are not famous names.
Tyffine Jones, 27, of Jackson, Miss., said she had no hesitation about signing — although she lives in a state where restrictions on abortion are tough and all but one abortion clinic has been closed.
Jones said she got an abortion 10 years ago — enduring harassment from protesters when she entered the clinic — in order to finish high school. She went on to become the first member of her family to graduate from college, and hopes at some point to attend law school.
“I wanted to do something bigger with myself — I didn’t want to be stopped by anything,” she said in a telephone interview.
** article**

She wanted to do something bigger with herself – so she killed her baby? :nope: God help her. **

I have to say I proudly HAD a baby while in law school, and knew many women who were mothers while in school.

Nothing but prayers at this point it is rather disturbing what these women are mislead to believe.

What I found interesting is the woman who, though she does not regret her decision, speaks to the psychological trauma of abortion.

It would be interesting to find out how many of the 5,000 share her pschological scars…if so, then that supports the North Dakota study and attempt to protect women by outlawing abortions outright.

Oh how wonderful! NOT! Now we have people who are proud of having abortions! The term Pro-abortion is true!

Oh, how very sad this is - bragging about killing their own children. This is what our culture of death has come down to, huh?

All this is part of a push to “destigmatize” abortion, IMHO much in the same way used by the Pro-homosexual lobby, as a way to make abortion more acceptable to the public.

I too find it interesting that they mentioned the phychological trauma after denying the many studies for so long. My guess is that they are ready to concede to the overwhelming evidence, and blame it not on the procedure, but on the stigma of abortion, of course caused only by the “scorn” and “outrage” heaped on these women by an “uninformed” and “biogted” public.

IMHO when these types can’t beat 'em, they shame 'em into submission. Be warned.

The admission by a pro-abort of the profound trauma that accompanies abortion is indeed a surprise, albeit a welcome one.

It does, however, make it even more puzzling why abortion providers are not required to fully inform their clients (victims) about the possibility of such result. In fact, it seems it would support a civil action against the abortion provider for the tort of failure to warn. Bankrupting the abortion providers, even through lawsuits, may be the best way to stop legalized abortion.

Vote in AOL’s Ms. Magazine poll**

AOL posted a poll question yesterday that looks like it is still live. ***Ms. Magazine ***is linking to it today, urging its people to vote. Why shouldn’t we?

The question is, “What do you think of Ms. magazine’s listing of women who had abortions?” At the moment, 158,637 have voted, and 48% think it’s a bad idea, 28% think it’s a good idea, and 24% have mixed feelings.

Salon reports Ms. Magazine cried foul to AOL yesterday about the original poll wording, which was, “What do you think of Ms. magazine’s naming of women who had abortions?” The pro-abortion side claims this is why they’re losing on the poll. With them, words hold the ultimate power in the debate, not concepts.
The fact is, no matter how they try, the abortion lobby cannot make Americans like abortion. This is evidenced by apparent public disgust at attempts to invoke abortion pride.

I hope you are right. I mean, I think there will always be people opposed to such indignities as abortion because God’s law is written on everyone’s heart, hence the instant revoltion, BUT I fear once the “quality of life” issue currently enjoying pretty good success with contraception, “death with dignity”, etc. if they can tie that in with abortion, along with the supression of truth and the other tactics used by them, it could lead to more social acceptance. I dunno - my theory and I hope I’m wrong…

I saw this on the O’Reilly Factor last night. I believe the editor explained that they were trying to make it more personal, and wanting women to speak about their bodies.

Does it take a woman to know that abortion is wrong or right? Talk about subjective morality…

Yes, I saw Smeal on O’Reilly last night also.
He was not rough on her like I wanted him to be.
She gave the same tired old pro-abort saws and I wanted him to nail her to the wall. But he didn’t.
