Can women be made ushers in the Church? I just saw one in the Parish.
Thanks everyone.
Thanks everyone.
I think the term you are looking for is feminism or feminist. This was by tradition a man’s role. It actually goes back to the early church and securing the doors before the eucharist was distributed.
Today, it is unfortunate, the role of men and women is being changed. What was a man’s role is being transformed into man or woman. What was normally a woman’s role is still a woman’s role and almost no man is interested in encroaching upon this territory.
**There is a movement in this age, that has a cause, where women want to take over and “run better” the operations that were traditionally reserved to men. It is sometimes thought of as an equality issue. ** In actuality, the women in our society have lost their identity, due primarily to abortion and contraception. They are not really women anymore and in a way, they know it. They reach out to the men’s role as if reaching for a balm to sooth their sorry state.
In grabbing for more equality, they have lost their soul.
The typical progression is for men in the parish to step aside. Eventually women are the majority on parish boards, councils, altar servers, and now ushers. It becomes totally feminized. In one generation, the children of the parish have no male role models promoting the faith. The parish falls apart due to the next generation leaving the faith.
Let no one mislead you, it is the father figure that dictates whether children remain in the faith. This is confirmed in studies. Look it up.
I am a woman and totally with you. As women continuously advance to take the jobs of men, men will step aside and they just take over just like in the work place. Said indeed. I just wonder who is taking care of the home in the mean time? This was by tradition a man’s role. yes you could attribute women serving in any capacity at Mass as some feminist conspiracy. Or you could see the truth, which is that if men refuse to volunteer, somebody has to do it.This

up.
It is not a feminist conspiracy. It is a natural de-evolution of women caused by contraception and abortion.yes you could attribute women serving in any capacity at Mass as some feminist conspiracy. Or you could see the truth, which is that if men refuse to volunteer, somebody has to do it.
there is no traditional ministry of “usher” btw
in the early church? I doubt it, they did not have pews until after the reformation so there was no need to seat peopleIt There is a tradition of usher… btw.
We don’t need anyone to tell us where to sit. we dont have numbered seats. many people are taking some kind of jobs that shouldnt even be there. I feel very unconfortable with people standing on the way trying to guide us when to get up and get on line for the Eucharist. I dislike this kind of thing. I know just when to get behind the people and when is my turn to go without anyone telling me. They do much better if they use this time to be praying for the Church instead of getting in the way of people. I have notice some kind of new trend at least in some Parish it is the idea of making people feel as if they are just guests in the Church. This is just awfull.in the early church? Check the GIRM.It is not a feminist conspiracy. It is a natural de-evolution of women caused by contraception and abortion.
The truth is this. Men do just fine participating in parish life but generally are not agressive and controlling about it. They have a different perspective and goal. They are more at peace.
Somebody has to do it… Really?
There is a tradition of usher… btw.
This is very insightful. We (women) ruined it for ourselves. This was by tradition a man’s role. It actually goes back to the early church and securing the doors before the eucharist was distributed.

Exactly. There is no liturgical role of usher in the Church. This is a role that is used by parishes for the purpose of making the Eucharistic celebration go more smoothly in larger gatherings. They greet people at the door, help people find seats, they direct people appropriately into the procession to receive the Eucharist, tell visitors where the bathroom is, etc. Some pastors ask them to remind of Church etiquette, help ordinary and extraordinary eucharistic ministers watch to see that a host isn’t stolen or desecrated, and at our parish, they also take the attendance count. There is no reason why anyone should be barred from filling this role except that they do not have the capability of actually carrying it out for some reason, or you have enough serving already.yes you could attribute women serving in any capacity at Mass as some feminist conspiracy.
