Him: What are you in the mood for?
Me: I don’t really care. What are you in the mood for?
(Because I’m not a picky eater, and I know he doesn’t like my top preferences, and I know he eats out way more than I do, so I have a 95% chance of picking the place he’s eaten at three times in the last week.)
As time progressed, I found it easier to say, “How about x, y, or z? What are you in the mood for?”
Likewise, when we lived in a big city, we made up a list of random restaurants to choose from, if we ever got stuck. So if we weren’t in the mood for one of our standbys, we’d say, “So, do you want to try the Afghani place? Or what about the Egyptian place?” and try something unusual.
