We are trying to start a women’s scripture study. I’ve been searching for materials and would like to know if you know of the following authors/ministry groups.

M.O.M.S. (The Ministry of Mothers Sharing) a ministry of the Benedictine Sisters of St. Paul’s Monastery in St. Paul Minnesota.

Books by Stacy Mitch: Courageous Love: A Bible Study on Holiness for Women; Courageous Viture: A Bible Study on Moral Excellence for Women; Courageous Women: A study on the Heroines of Biblical History.

Book by Michaelann Martin called Woman of Grace.

Any information on these???

not familiar with those you cite, but picked up Women in the Bible for Dummies, by Fr Trigilio, which would make a great bible study.

Nope, but with a Bible, a really good concordance, and some attention to the details of the text, you can create your own.

Be prepared for some unpleasantness, though. Some parts are utterly egalitarian (Ge 1:27), while others are less so (2 Sam 11).

I would not recommend this at all. The content is strongly feminist and borderline New Age.

These books are all published by Emmaus Road and are all excellent. My wife used them in a Women’s Bible study she was leading and they were very well recieved.

You may want to visit my webpage (linked below) for more ideas.

I would strongly advise you stay away from M.O.M.S. I asked about this study once on this forum because I was concerned and wondered if my intuitions were correct, and someone sent me a link about it - I’ll find it and post it here shortly. It is not Catholic in nature, has a self-centered/feminist overtone. One of the recommended readings from the M.O.M.S. journal for ‘single MOTHERS’ is ‘How to find Mr. or* Ms*. Right’. Enough said.

‘Women of Grace’ is supposed to be awesome. I would trust anything by Johnnette Benkovic. Another parish in our town is starting this up and I can’t wait to join.

Here’s the link to some info on M.O.M.S. that I promised you in my post above. fyi - M.O.M.S isn’t a ‘scripture study’, so if you’re looking for a scripture study, regardless of what you think about M.O.M.S., it’s not a bible study.

John Ortberg’s book “IF YOU WANT TO WALK ON WATER YOU’VE GOT TO GET OUT OF THE BOAT” was really good. It has questions in the back too. God really showed up strong in that small group I had been in…when we did this book…alot was given to us. Even if you don’t choose to do it…I still would recommend reading it, expecially to anyone you love.
God bless. : ) His beloved, Amy
