Just thought I would share with you all what a wonderful Easter Vigil I had this evening. I was the thurifer for the first time ever, and I loved being able to make some nice smoke on the holiest night of the year.

The Easter Vigil always provides me with a deeper love with Christ and His Church. The Triduum in its entirety reminds me of why I am Catholic.

Oh, and as I side note, I LOVE Luke’s account of the resurrection - “Why do you seek the living among the dead?”

Happy Easter to all!

I would agree that the Vigil of Easter, is the longest and most beautiful liturgy of the church.

Last Night, the choir who sang for the Vigil was various choirs around the area, thus forming a composite choir. Their instruments, especially the piano, beatbox, flute, shaker, and chimes added beauty and uplifted both body and soul well

We read all the readings and the responsorial psalms were sung. The priest baptized and confirmed a 12 year old convert, making it the first EV that I have ever attended with a baptism and confirmation.

When my wife and I moved to our new parish, we were befriended by a young priest, who talked us into going to the Easter Vigil…we haven’t missed one since…29 years now, and the spiritual high point of the year…we’ve been involved in the RCIA process for the past 20 years, and it makes the Vigil all the more awesome…I’m never asleep before 3:00 AM…
