We got invited to bishop delegate Daniel Flores’ ordination or the Archdiocese for Detriot. This is big stuff. My husband and the bishop-delect have the same last name, and my FIL has family in the area. Maybe we’re kin! 😃

Well, find out for us when you meet him! Hope you enjoy the occasion.

Texas’ loss is Michigan’s gain, he is very good by all accounts, and I am happy to hear Detroit will now have a Hispanic bishop, given the growth of that population in your diocese.

Do you know him? I’m looking forward to meeting him because my husband’s grandfather was from Corpus Christi, and they may share some of the same lineage. I’m very excited about this!

I’m pleased for you because I love high ceremonial (which I hope will be worthy for the occasion–not a common thing to find these days). However, I was unaware that one must be invited to the ordination of a bishop. Limited capacity, I suppose.

My wife was invited to Our bishops installation as well. She is not attending due to time contraints. She is a little irked that we were not invited as a couple but hey I guess LOTs of invites go out to this type of event. My big hope is that our new bishop …(Martin Amos) makes some changes towards a more orthodox way of doing things in my diocese.

Very limited space. Our cathedral is quite small. As it is, it’ll probably be SRO.

We were also invited to Solemn High Vespers and a meet-and-greet for last night, but we had to choose one or the other, since we have to close the office. Solemn High Vespers is probably one of the most beautiful experiences in the Church. sigh

my first experience of Solemn High Vespers was last year when my pastor and other priests of the diocese were made monsigniors. I agree, simply beautiful and very appropriate. I went to my first priestly ordination this spring, what an awesome event. Our bishop is retiring in the next couple of years so maybe I will make a bishop’s ordination, but more likely a bishop will just be moved here, the betting is against a priest of the diocese being made bishop (yes, diocesan employees have pools, too, not just OSU/Mich fans. Go Bucks).
