Wooden thing behind tabernacle

This might sound like a dumb question but in some of the older more traditional churches there is an ornate wooden thing around the tabernacle or behind it. What is that thing called? It usually has a statue included on it etc. and they are normally very elegant.

I believe that would technically be the “reredos.”

Yes, the reredos (RARE-eh-doss). Sometimes it’s just a marble slab, but personally I prefer the ornamented wooden ones.
