Hi,
I was checking out the fasting guidelines for the paschal fast when I saw that we should fast from work and “ways to be entertained”. What does this mean? Should I refrain from working on homework or watching TV with my friends Friday and Saturday? On a related note, while the fast carries over from Friday to Saturday, does abstinence from meat carry over as well? Thanks!

What branch of Catholicism does this?

While I have heard Archbishop Chaput and some priests suggest from the altar that we fast from electronics like TV, computer, etc., these practices aren’t part of the “fasting guidelines” for Roman Catholics to my knowledge. The “fasting guidelines” deal with what we eat or don’t eat.

I saw it here, but I guess I should’ve known that that wasn’t required for everyone. Thanks for the help!

Quick follow up question: does abstinence from meat still apply on Holy Saturday?

Catholics (at least in the Roman Rite, I don’t know about the particular Eastern Churches) are not obliged to fast or abstain feom meat on Holy Saturday, although it is still encouraged to continue the fasting and abstinence until after the Easter Vigil.
