Work on Sudays-eating out?

I know questions about keeping Sunday holy are asked a lot, but I just need to clarify some things.

Sometimes after mass, my grandmother and I go out for lunch or to have coffee/tea. I was wondering if this is ok or if it is immoral since going out to eat makes other people work…

Turning on a light in your house on Sunday can only happen if someone is manning the power plant. I think that we can really over think things a bit. The person who is serving you is not necessarily sinning just by the mere fact that s/he is at work. We must keep the Lord’s Day holy and we can do this even if we work. In my opinion, I would enjoy that lunch with your grandmother. You are not causing anyone to sin and the intention is not to make another person’s day unholy. This is a very good post and should everyone be so concerned…teachccd

Um. How’s that?

Chances are that the people who are working want to work…or need to.
I don’t think people would be happy if I did not work b/c it was Sunday, and according to some religions, the “Lord’s Day” (I work in a hospital).

Also, not all have the same belief that working on the ‘sabbath’ is wrong.

While I really don’t see a problem with service sector business being open on Saturday and Sunday (more likely than not, that’s when they are going to make the most money) I am quite annoyed with businesses being open on major holidays like New Year’s, Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Granted, one holiday is a religious one, and not everyone’s Christian, but…geeze, come on. Do you REALLY have to open Wal-Mart on Thanksgiving? Pfft.
I feel for the poor people who have to work THEN…that’s just greed, plain and simple…
 
well, this hits home for me. i am, just within the last few months, exploring catholicism. i own a retail store, and work 12 - 4 on sundays. my kids are grown, so i like to give my other employees that day off so they can spend time with their families. i did not know til recently that i should not be working sundays, but a friend helping me with my conversion said i should offer up that reason to God. i hope that is acceptable. i go to mass at 6 after work. i have so many customers that are happy i am open sunday. i am curious what ya’ll’s thoughts are…
