Work on Sunday? Need answer FAST!

Not sure if this is the best forum, but I need some (name removed by moderator)ut on this and I need it quickly.

The company I work for (a small business with about 20 or so employees) is moving across town. For the past week, we’ve been working at getting everything moved, including about 500,000 appliance part which have to be put on shelves in order. It is tedious and hard work.

We have been closed since Thursday evening and need to have most of the work done before we re-open on Monday.

I am a bookkeeper and ordinarily don’t lift anything heavier than an ink pen and only work Monday-Friday, but I have been helping with the move. As today, Sunday, is the last day before we reopen, there is a lot to do and not a whole lot of people to do it.

**My family and I will be attending Mass this morning, but I’m torn over whether or not I have sufficient reason to go in a help with the move and/or catch up some of the bookkeeping the move has prevented me from doing. The hours will most likely be long and the work servile.

Can anybody offer any advice? **
 
I work EVERY Sunday. Sometimes you job requires it. Seems to me that you working today is a necessity in order to have the office open on Monday with everything in place. If you dont help out it only means the others might have to work later today to get things ready.
 
I’ve occasionally had to do Sunday work too. Since you’re going to mass, the work you do today shouldn’t be a problem.

Sometimes you have to do what you have to do, to help the company you work for. Remember, their success is your success and that of your fellow employees.

Working Sunday, if you have to and it seems like a one time deal.

If you work on Sunday, do it for the Lord.
If you don’t work on Sunday, do it for the Lord.
Whether you choose to work or not to work, do it for the Lord.
 
It appears to be a team effort and an unusual circumstances at your job. So unless you want to be first in line for a layoff during bad times (which would be now), I would suggest cheerfully working. Offer it up.
