Work out your salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12)

Why work it out if you’re saved by faith alone? There would be nothing to work out.
Why with fear and trembling if you have absolute assurance? You would be worried about nothing.

Was Paul just mistaken or misguided?

As an Evangelical, this verse always bothered me. I just wondered how Non-Catholics viewed this verse. It makes sense to me now within the Catholic perspective.

Have you been to daily mass recently? The Gospel has been John’s and its covered Jesus and the Last Supper discourse. In chapter 15: 9-10.
As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.
This one sentence is a major road block to both “Salvation by Faith Alone” and “Once Saved Always Saved”.

Yes, that’s exactly what I was thinking as I listened to that. 😉
