I sometimes work in a Bible charity/company which is largely Protestant but that works with all Christian churches. I thought this was a good opportunity to serve the Lord, and get some more Catholic ethos on board, but when I tell fellow-Catholics where I work they seem to think I am working for the opposition! Am I wrong?

I don’t think so.

Assuming you face no pressure to come join our little pre work Bible study…

I’d recommend you go sanctify the place…be cheerful, enormously helpful and serving and attentive and competent in your work. Offer up extra work quietly for Christian unity.

But careful about subtle prostelitism.

As opposed to working in a secular environment? As long as you’re not literally working for a specifically Protestant cause I’d consider yourself lucky.

As long as you are not working for a group that is actively trying to convert Catholics away from the Church, I can’t see how this could be wrong. If your conscience is bugging you, try to find a job with a Catholic group. God bless.

Thanks for these thoughts. In fact today I was approached about how better to engage with Catholics, so I pray God will help me with ideas and ways of doing this!

I am not clear on exactly who you are working/volunteering for, what they do, and what you do for them.

By a “Bible company” do you mean a company that publishes Protestant bibles? Or are they a "bible-based"charity of some sort?

What exactly does this company do? That might be a better gauge of whether or not you should be contributing time and resources to them.

I am so saddened by the thought of Christian Catholics and Protestants being on opposite sides. Both “sides” worship and pray to the same living God, are saved by the same Christ, and have the Holy Spirit within them. I thought ALL Christians are working toward the same goal: to spread the Good News that Christ the Savior has bled, died, and has risen for the salvation of all people, whether they are white, black, red, yellow or purple, whether they live in North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, or Australia.

One’s faith should not hold them back from entering the Kingdom of God if that faith is true and pure.

Please help me understand…

👍

Is the company’s goal or aim specifically to promote Protestantism or Protestant causes? If their goal is conversion of people to Protestantism, and even if the goal is not explicitly to peel away Catholics, I do not think I could work there in good conscience, personally.
