Works or doing give life to Faith

I have struggled with many little questions and answers, and answers and questions.

Exodus 24: 7 Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people. They responded, “We will do everything the LORD has said; we will obey.”

Rabbi Bonder says that this is saying, “do and then believe.”

Is this one of the traditional Jewish interpretations of this passage?

Thus I have run to see if this is accurate. If it is, then does it applies to faith without acts is dead? Let me invert it: “It is works that actually give rise to faith.” Or, “It is doing or works that give life to faith”

Is this traditional Jewish thought? Have I understood Bonder?

…from your citation I gather that the teaching reflected means: by Faith in God we do not question but do as He Commands!

…don’t know if it’s traditional Jewish thought… but as far as giving life to Faith, here’s what Scriptures say:

have nevertheless learnt that someone is reckoned as upright not by practising the Law but by faith in Jesus Christ; and we too came to believe in Christ Jesus so as to be reckoned as upright by faith in Christ and not by practising the Law: since no human being can be found upright by keeping the Law. (Galatians 2:16)

…it is not the Mosaic Law that makes us righteous (upright) but Faith in Jesus Christ.

We remember before our God and Father how active is the faith, how unsparing the love, how persevering the hope which you have from our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thessalonians 1:3)

…Faith, by rule, must produce works of Love and longing for Christ’s Promise.

Simon Peter, servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have received a faith as precious as our own, given through the saving justice of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 1:1)

but the grace of our Lord filled me with faith and with the love that is in Christ Jesus. (1 Timothy 1:14)

And through the grace that I have been given, I say this to every one of you: never pride yourself on being better than you really are, but think of yourself dispassionately, recognising that God has given to each one his measure of faith. (Romans 12:3)

…as we can see from the Scriptural passages above, Faith originates in God… as Jesus stated:

44 'No one can come to me unless drawn by the Father who sent me, and I will raise that person up on the last day…

65 He went on, ‘This is why I told you that no one could come to me except by the gift of the Father…’ (St. John 6:44-66)

Glad to be of help… searching through Scriptures is very much like pointing a finger at someone else: 1 other vs. 4 me!

…so the more I search to help others the more I’m expose to Scriptures… so it’s a plus plus situation!

Perhaps my answer is: Love comes first. His love is that which gives me faith.

Yes! Love, His love is first.

		 			Because He loves us, we get all of the answers first--He loves me; He  gives me faith; He give me trust of Him; He gives me sobriety;  He  gives me humility; and He gives me chastity.

He actually gives me the Gifts, Fruits and Beatitudes (happiness).
