Has anyone else heard about this movie with Nic Cage? I was hoping to find some more info, from what i’ve seen so far it looks pretty good.

Can you provide more information? Name of the movie or a URL???

Seems like most of the posters on the m.b. over there aren’t too impressed with the movie.

Plot Summary for
Untitled Oliver Stone/September 11 Project (2006)

In the aftermath of the World Trade Center disaster, hope is still alive. Refusing to bow down to terrorism, rescuers and family of the victims press forward. Their mission of rescue and recovery is driven by the faith that under each piece of rubble, a co-worker, a friend a family member may be found. This is the true story of John McLoughlin and William J. Jimeno, the last two survivors extracted from Ground Zero and the rescuers who never gave up. It’s a story of the true heroes of that fateful time in the history of the United States when buildings would fall and heroes would rise, literally from the ashes to inspire the entire human race.

May I make a suggestion?

Instead of subsidizing Hollywood with their really bad melodramatic presentations, and often going against the beliefs of Christians, how about spending the money on some really amazing and suspenseful books. Movie tickets are very expensive these days and you can go to alibiris or halfprice or even used books on Amazon and get excellent books for cheap.

There are a LOT of well documented survivor stories from 9/11 at the World Trade Center.

I just went to Amazon and typed in “World Trade Center survivor” and there were some excellent titles and some of the authors were actually there.

Look up:

Richard Picciotto (NYFD fire chief who was trapped in the wreckage and was probably the last person to emerge.

John Labriola who took pictures from inside the the WTC.

Jim Dwyer’s excellent book “102 Minutes”

Dennis Smith has several books.

When you visit these books on Amazon, a bunch of others will also come up.

So, my suggestion is to boycott Hollywood’s movies and buy the books.

Treat your dollars like “votes”. Deny anti-Catholic and anti-Christian propagandists by not giving them your “votes”. Instead, since authors receive royalties, a few dollars for each book sold, vote for the authors by buying their books.

This movie is in the theatres now. It’s pretty good. I know it’s gotten good ratings from Christians because of the policemen’s vision of Jesus Christ. I think that could have been developed more but it was a good movie.

The beginning and ending are very intense. Bring a hanky or two.

I think it’s a little early for Hollywood to start capitalizing on this tragedy.

I would agree were we not dealing with a respected familiar who does not have a history of making movies solely to cash in.

I saw it and can’t say enough good things about it. I highly recomend it. It was done very tastefully. I think the director just wanted to honor the the policemen and firemen who were there that day.
It’s an incredably powerful and movie movie.
I actually don’t think it was too early to come out. I think too many people were forgetting about 9/11, and this served as a reminder.
It also has Christian elements in it, so nothing wrong in that field.
I just really recomment it.

I saw on this past Sunday and thought it was good. INteresting perspective of being inside a building that collapsed.

I personally preferred “United 93” fewer recognizable faces made it seem more realistic. In this movie I keep seeing “people” I recognized: hey there’s Fabrizio from Titanic…Is that Maggie Gyllanhall? (yes, it was). “United 93” should be out on DVD now or soon.

Oh, and the book by Richard Picciotto memtioned above? REally pissed off the rest of his company because he took a little more credit than was due. I’ll try to find a link to the story.

Brent Bozell liked it, and he’s a Catholic League board member. He’s also a Republican, so he was surprised how patriotic it is–it is the guy who made “Born on the 4th of July,” after all.

That, I think, is the difference between Michael Moore and Oliver Stone. They’re both geniuses, both (mostly justly) hated by the right wing, but Stone is a liberal. Moore is a wacko.

I saw [with my brother and another person] WTC and its very good, our family said we look drained afterwards. I’m going to try to go and see it again and grab some other family members next time I see them, hopefully, in a few weeks.

I felt very drained when we left the theater. My mom and I were squirming around in out seats with the part where the building came down.
I just saw United 93. That one was just excelent as well.

drained is exactly the word I used when I left the theatre. I felt like I had been buried under that bulding myself. My friend and I whom I had seen the movie with, spoke about 5 hours later and we were both still feeling the effects of it. I will recommend it, but not for the weak of heart. Oliver Stone did a great job of telling the story of those two heros.

I saw it and thought it was a good movie. I was pleased Oliver Stone left out political agendas and lunatic-fringe conspiracy theories. He presented everything, from the police’s dedication to the families’ concern to the patriotism and religion of some of the heroes, in a straightforward fashion, without any of the usual liberal cynicism or condescension.
