ok…i have a slight dilemma on my hands.
i have this friend/acquaintance, for the time being il call her Rachel.
I met Rachel about a year ago and she is currently 23yo. Rachel is more than an acquaintance but less than a friend since i dont see her a heap. i probably see her 3 times in a month. Thing is, when i first met her she told me she was a Catholic (pretty, much by title only). I was really excited to find this out. but then throughout the whole of last year i learned that she was living with her bf. She was on the pill and had a miscarriage. Rachael is a also a lingerie and underwear model who has posed for various mags and companies. She works at a club as a podium dancer.
she also tends to dress skimpy - short shorts and low tops when out and about. Apparently, her bf and other people have tried to talk to her about dressing a bit more modestly, but she doesn’t seem to reciprocate.
However…she is such a sweet, smart and a cheerful person to talk to. and i think she means well. After, my recent exams, i had planned to go out to coffee with her - so that i could hopefully help her (i.e. - modesty, purity type issues) through apostolate in both friendship and making her spiritually aware. but i never got around to doing so due to other commitments. I was planning to do something these coming weeks…
BUT…
today, I found out that she is engaged to her bf or fiance now. AND, she is moving states?!?!?!
mmmmmmmm…now, i dont even know if it is worth trying to help her - because she will be in another state and she is engaged plus i dont hang out with her a heap. If you get what i mean. BUT - i know i have to help her in some way.
i also - have pure womanhood that i wanted to give to her…but i cant give it to her - coz, i wanted to know her a heap more before i felt comfortable enough to hand it to her.

i want to know what i should do?? should i leave the situation because it’s a lost cause. or should i do something even though my time is limited… and plus she is getting married - is it even worth correcting the mistake of living together when she is about to get married?? and im 18, so quite a few years younger than her, so im not to sure now, how to handle the situation. o any help and advice is much appreciated for this girl.

Dear friend, your concern for Rachel gives you the opportunity to pray for her. It is **God’s grace and Spirit **that will bless and enlighten this girl. Only God can give the grace of ‘pure womanhood’. Be thankful that God has provided you as someone to pray for her.

God bless you!

You use the word heap. I’m gonna take it you are southern? Heap=southern term for more, or alot of something. For those of y’all not familar. We have words in the south NOBODY uses.

Now to the question at hand. I’d do what I could in the time alotted. Whatever that might be. Alot can happen. She could change her mind about getting married, she could decide not to move, anyhting is possible.

But lets say none of that happens, but someday in the future she might remember something you said, and figure out you were right, and come back to it.

I got all kinda of advice when I was 21 that I dismissed, only to realize at 50, “you know he right when he told me so and so way back then.”

I wouldn’t beat her over the head with things, but I would mention getting her to come to Mass with ya, and that if she trust’s in God, her life will be better. You best course is to be her friend, live YOUR life with optimism, hope, love and having fun doing it. People tend to go by more what ya do, then what ya say.

o dear - when i meant ‘pure womenhood.’ i ment the book by Crystallina Evert. lolz…
o and bama - im somewhat a southerner. considering i live in the deep south, australia…lolz… o and thanks.

mm…well, i feel that i need to do more than just pray.
i need to physically talk or help her.

o and i forgot to add to my previous post.
i would feel really guilty if she did break off the engagement etc etc because she realized her wrong doings etc (say, after i actually did impact her in some way). because i would be afraid if my own friends who are friends with her&her fiance - could possibly turn on me - like im the bad person - if she say did break the engagement
ah…this is sure difficult…
