Worshipping gods?

When the Catholic Church teaches that we should not worship gods, does that mean it’s wrong for Christians but okay for non-Christians? In other words, is God’s commandment of “Thou shalt have no other gods before me” meant for everyone (not just Christians, Jews, and Muslims)?

It is meant for everyone, but not everyone knows God. Ignorance may excuse those that worship something other than the one-true God. Everything is up to the love and mercy of the Lord.
