Actually, it’s more like saying, “The official Catholic Church teaching is that contraception is wrong, but almost everyone in the real world ignores it.” Which is, let’s face it, the TRUTH!
No, it’s not.

It’s SPIN. Like a lot of things in this world, influenced by Satan. The Truth is God’s Eternal Word, not some idiot popularity poll.

I refuse to collaborate with the enemy, or give ground.

I disagree. The Idiot’s Guide tells what the Catholic Church teaches, and also what real-world Catholics do. Here is an example, regarding contraception:

Following Vatican II, Pope Paul VI gave a strict interpretation of these teachings in an encyclical called Humanae Vitae (Latin for “of human life”). The pope declared, “Each and every marriage act must remain open to the transmission of life.” Humanae Vitae set the church spinning. There were questions from bishops, theologian, pastors, and congregations that still have not been answered.

Sociological data reveal that approximately 80 percent of practicing Catholics do not follow the church’s official and authoritative teachings on birth control. Catholics report that their parish priests support them in the decisions they make in this matter. However, abstinence and the rhythm method are the only acceptable forms of birth control.
Thank you for providing this quote. This is not something to be praised. There are no unanswered questions. The use of artificial contraception for the purpose of prevrnting pregnancy is an intrinsic evil. That is fairly black and white. What are the unanswered questions, especially given the sheer volume of works that have been published concerning birth control. The fact that most Catholics do not follow the teaching is irrelevant. If a the majority of people support evil, it does not make it good. True morality is not subject tot change with the times. The support of parish priests is also irrelevant. These priests will have much to answer for in the judgement. They have a grave responsibility in transmitting the Truth. Lastly, the author misrepresents Natural Family Planning (NFP). Data shows that NFP, if practiced correctly, is as effective as the artificial forms of contraception, and has the added benefits of discipline and self-sacrifice. This passage you quoted is a perfect example of faulty information in the book, and why it should be wholly ignored.
