If one was to end his own life to save another person would this be a sin , I ask this cause i was told a storie from a man who was involved in the holocaust he said his cousin ( I believe it’s was his cousin ) was about witness a group of Jews be killed he step foward and told them to take his life and let them live , I believe he said his cousin and the Jews were both killed . If a man was giving a choice to take his own life or witness the killing of a other and he decided to take his own life would this be a sin . I’m sure there some errors in the storie i don’t remember it to a T .I thank you all for your time and comments

He wouldn’t be taking his own life. He would be making a noble sacrifice. I am not good with exact quotes, but in the Bible there is a passage that says there is no ‘No greater love than a man to lay down his life for his brother.’
Peace.

Saint Maximilian Kolbe died in a Nazi death camp by volunteering to take the place of another prisoner who was to be killed along with a group of others. Saint Kolbe was placed into a starvation bunker with the other men, lead them in prayer, heard their confessions, and still was alive after the others perished. The Nazis then executed him with an injection of poison directly into his heart.

The man whose life he saved was still alive and was present at Saint Kolbe’s canonization.
