Hey guys. So I’m in a bit of a situation. I need money and PayPal seems to be the easiest way and one of the most common ways to get paid online. However, I did hear that they support Planned Parenthood. Is this true and would it be wrong for me to use it to get money? Thanks

The vast majority of US companies support Planned Parenthood in some way, even if it’s just offering it as one option on a list of 500 charities that an employee can donate to via United Way or directly or with gift matching etc. You would have difficulty eliminating every company from your life that supports Planned Parenthood, unless you wanted to make some serious effort to source everything you buy.

My personal opinion is that unless a company is making it a big part of their business and marketing to go around promoting and supporting Planned Parenthood, and/or their business is directly connected to Planned Parenthood, I go ahead and use them. Paypal is a business for sending payments. It is not a business directly involved with health care, abortion, contraception etc. therefore I do not have a problem using them.

Paypal allows people to give charitable donations to organizations of their choice with no fees. I would assume it allows donations to PP. It also has a thing where it will suggest a charity for you to donate a dollar to when you make an unrelated payment for something else. It picks the charity based on where you have sent past donations, so if someone has been donating to PP in the past it may suggest PP. I never get invited by them to donate to PP as I have never sent PP a dime in my life and don’t intend to start, so instead Paypal invites me to send my dollar to a charity for rehabilitating abused cats to which I frequently donate.

Though I am confused cause on the family council website, it listed PayPal under one of the companies that directly gives to Planned Parenthood

The Family Research Council is irked because PayPal does not allow transfers of funds to SPLC-designated hate groups like the Family Research Council.

So of course they are going to discourage you from using Paypal. You are under no obligation to comply with their wishes.

If it is, IM GUILTY. Charities line up on PayPal. I hope not.
Blessings

I found two websites. One of them is called familycouncil and the other one is familyresearchcouncil. What confuses me is they both seem like different organizations run by different people unless I’m mistaken

If I quit doing business with every company listed on Family Council’s list of who gives directly to Planned Parenthood according to them, I’d have significant difficulties doing everything from replacing a light bulb to obtaining insurance coverage through my employer.

I frankly think there are better ways to oppose abortion than this kind of minutiae. I put it in the same category with people I knew who wouldn’t order Dominos Pizza because the CEO was Catholic or because he was pro-life.

Hey everyone. I just wanted to thank you guys for helping me. My apologies if this was a weird question. I have anxiety and I tend to get paranoid about stuff. Once again, thank you so much ❤️

I think that your question is great. It’s a sign of faith that you made yourself aware and care enough to reflect upon this circumstance.
